Tauranga Independent MP Brendan Horan is in Tauranga Hospital with suspected blood poisoning today, according to colleague Rusty Kane.
Mr Kane said he visited Mr Horan about 3pm before he was taken away by hospital staff.
"He told me he suspects he got blood poisoning from a wound on his leg that got infected from checking out polluted streams in the Bay," said Mr Kane.
