Bowls Bay of Plenty Men's 3 Bowl Triples was finally played over the weekend at the Whakatane Bowling Club with good weather prevailing over the two days.

There were 13 teams from around the Bay representing their clubs and gave spectators some good tips on how to play the game.

The semifinal was played out between Kevin Maxfield's composite team and Bernie Martelliti's team from Te Puke, with Maxfield's team going on to reach the final winning 12-8.

In the other semifinal, John Chelley's team from home club Whakatane took on Mark Sarginson's team from neighbouring Ohope with Ohope going on to the final winning 13-10.

The final was between Maxfield's team comprising Maxfield as skip, Hopa Bell director and Doug Russell lead against Sarginson's team comprising Sarginson as skip, Des Connor director and Brian Hill lead. With ends being scored by both teams the battle was on but Maxfield's team played consistently to finally win the game 22-13.
