The Bay of Plenty experienced a strong shopping splurge in July, with figures showing an increase in spending of 6.7 per cent.

Paymark released their figures for July, showing the Bay had one of the highest increases for July compared to all other regions in New Zealand.

The national average of spending was up 6.1 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The Bay increased by 8.4 per cent in spending volume.
