The graduates included Otumoetai College student Lauren McClutchie, Papamoa College's Georgia Fowler and Tauranga Boys' College student Joshua Badshah, all aged 16.
Lauren said every day at Outward Bound was a "massive challenge", especially kayaking down rapids and tipping herself over and holding her breath for as long as possible.
"Everything we did pushed me so much further than I would have ever thought possible.
"I feel like now that I've completed the course I can go out and just nail anything I put my mind to, no matter how hardcore it seems to be at the start," she said.
Lauren, who has an ambition to become a paramedic, said she intends "grabbing every opportunity" that comes her way and wants to do lots more similar adventures.
Georgia Fowler, who aims to become a paediatrician, said the Tangaroa course was "awesome and life-changing".
"It taught me so much, including a sense of independence. Being an only child I'm always with one of my parents. But this course taught me that I have the ability to achieve everything I want to do if I put my mind to it," she said.
Joshua, who plans to become a surgeon, agreed.
"I think one of the biggest things I came away with is I now have a greater belief in myself, and my ability to do things I would normally shy away from, including public speaking.
"This course also taught me that it's not just physical strength but mental strength that matters at the end of the day when it comes to achieving any goal or challenge."
Outward Bound school director Simon Graney said during their time on the course the students learned to build courage and resilience.
"The students also experience success as a member of the team, identify their own values, develop an appreciation for the natural environment and experience being of service."
Mr Graney said fundraising to send the students to the adventure school was an ongoing process and if anyone keen to sponsor more students he would love to hear from them.
