A health consumer council has been set up to advise the Bay of Plenty District Health Board.
Eleven people have been selected for the consumer council, which will bring patient and community perspective to the board's process of developing health services.
The council will have input on health service priorities, enhancing patient safety and clinical quality and reducing inequalities.
The board said the aim was to make consumers' experienced better and improve service integration across the health sector.
The council will hold the first of its monthly meetings on Wednesday.
