BP was the oil company that supplied the fuel for the aircraft.
"We have fuel supply in Tauranga for at least this week," Mr Davidson said. After that fuel could be tankered between locations to assist, he said.
"Air NZ will continue to review the impacts on scheduled flights," he said.
Energy and Resources Minister Judith Collins said additional stocks of petrol and diesel were being trucked in directly from the refinery and from the terminal in Mount Maunganui.
"The fuel companies are confident that supply of these fuels will be maintained and it is unlikely that motorists will be inconvenienced," she said.
The minister had also offered government assistance to Refining NZ and companies that supplied the fuel.
Tauranga tourism companies had not received any calls from worried travellers.
"We are not seeing any significant disruptions to our clients, which does not mean others are not affected," House of Travel's Shane Kennedy said.
He said Auckland Airport was doing a great job at managing the "unique challenge".
Kathrin Low of Tourism Bay of Plenty said the current fuel shortage was affecting Auckland and the main gateways rather than the regions.
About 27 domestic and international flights had been cancelled over the weekend and a further 14 flights were affected yesterday.
Auckland Airport chief executive Adrian Littlewood said the airport was working closely with airlines and other airport stakeholders to monitor the impact of the temporary disruption.
"We will have additional staff in the terminals supporting passengers and addressing any questions or concerns they may have," he said.
Passengers were advised to plan ahead and check with their airline for the latest information.
In addition to the cancellations, some long-haul services to and from Asia and North America were stopping to refuel at selected Pacific or Australian airports.
Refining NZ chief executive Sjoerd Post said the company expected to deliver jet fuel into Wiri between midday September 24 and midday September 26.
"From that point, we estimate it will take another 30 hours for the jet fuel to settle, for recertification to be obtained, and to transport to Auckland International airport."
