Brick Mansions
(M), Roadshow Entertainment

Portraits of the future don't always paint the most wonderful of pictures of where we are heading.

Brick Mansions is one such example as we enter a world of violence, gangs and drugs.

This is a housing estate in Detroit that had become so ugly, city leaders have decided to erect a wall around it and heavily restrict access to it.

Left to its own devices, Brick Mansions is a lawless society run by gang leaders who peddle their drugs and weapons at will.

When the mayor grows tired of what the housing estate has become, he devises a plan to destroy the village but he needs the help of undercover Detroit cop Damien Collier (the late Paul Walker).

Collier must join forces with street fighter Lino (David Belle) to infiltrate the lair of drug lord Tremaine Alexander (Rza) and retrieve a dangerous explosive device before it is too late.

But Collier has not been told the whole story about the reasons he is in Brick Mansions - he thinks he is exacting revenge for the death of his policeman father.

It turns out that there is more to this situation than meets the eye.

As you might expect in a Paul Walker movie, there is action aplenty and a lot of high-speed car chases.

Brick Mansions may be relatively low profile but it is very good with a great storyline and plenty happening throughout.
