Pak'n Save shoppers will not have to travel far to fill their cars as both supermarkets, in Tauranga and Papamoa, will soon have petrol stations within the supermarket complex.
A fuel facility at the Pak'n Save on Cameron Rd will be ready for use by the end of November. Demolition of the existing buildings in front of the Tauranga supermarket are under way at present to prepare for the new service.
Foodstuffs general manager of property development Angela Bull said the fuel facility was all about making it more "convenient" for shoppers.
She said the fuel facility would be self-service and customers would pay by eftpos or credit card, in collaboration with the discount fuel offer.
Meanwhile, developments at the Pak'n Save in Papamoa were also "progressing well", said Ms Bull.
The new supermarket and fuel service are due to open mid-September.
About 150 new jobs have been created and Ms Bull said the new store owner-operator Rob McGregor was in the final stages of recruiting staff.
Ms Bull said Foodstuff invested in the Bay of Plenty region area because it had a growing economy and community. "At the moment, the Papamoa community is only served by one supermarket and we're really excited to be able to provide some competition."
