IT WAS a one-sided pounding to end the summer of 2014-15, and Property Brokers United were the ones swinging the hammer in the Porter Hire Premier 1 one-day final at Victoria Park on Saturday.
After St Johns Tech had lobbied so hard during the week to be the team to go through to the final ahead of Bayer Marist, the side they put on the field ended up being an eclectic mix of their regular First XI, Premier 2 players, and ring-ins.
The veterans in United then got about their work as MVP Christi Viljoen broke the castles of two of the newcomers while Ryan Slight trapped regular Caleb Greene in front to have Tech reeling at 5-3 in the third over.
Enter leading hope Nick Harding, who would carry Jessica Watkin and then captain Sam Roebuck with him through to 88-5 after a very well taken 60 from 58 balls.
With United keeping Viljoen going until his eighth over, Harding was not intimidated and used the pace of the ball to push through seven boundaries, while chancing his arm with the field to put two balls just over the boundary rope.
