Wanganui fans will have an added incentive to follow the fortunes of the Fiji rugby team on tour in the British Isles later this year.
Former Wanganui City College, Kaierau and Pirates player Asaeli Tikoirotuma has been named in the Fijian national side to tour Britain around the same time as the All Blacks head to the Northern Hemisphere.
Tikoirotuma, nicknamed Tiks, had been in awesome form on the wing for the Chiefs during the Super Rugby championship and was always a good chance to make the Fijian squad.
The Fijian-born 28-year-old still holds the record for most City College 1st XV tries in a season with 28. He married his high school sweetheart Carolyn, who was deputy head girl when they met at City College. They married in 2008 and now have three children.
Tikoirotuma played five seasons with the Wanganui Heartland team, winning national Heartland Player of the Year in 2009. He also had three seasons playing ITM Cup for Manawatu, helping them to the final of the ITM Cup Championship in 2011.
