As well as the 65 speed skaters who will make up the largest field yet for the fourth running of the Wanganui St John's Club Rivercity Tour, a major international junior will be looking to make his mark.
Germany's Simon Albrecht will be competing, having won a silver and two bronze medals at the CIC World Championships in Belgium this year. In the 200m final, Albrecht came back after nearly crashing to all but upset Colombia's Camilo Perez - the favourite - finishing second by 0.12 of a second. He claimed bronze in the 300m and 500m finals, also behind dominant Colombian skaters.
The Rivercity Tour racing will start at 9am at Kowhai Park tomorrow, then continues at the Velodrome at 1pm and at Mitre 10 at 6pm. The final stage is at Jubilee Stadium on Sunday at 9am.
