Young Auckland University mid-field back Rhema Sagote is in line to play for Wanganui in the Heartland rugby championship which starts on Saturday week.
Sagote, aged 22, impressed Steelform Wanganui selectors Jason Caskey and Jason Hamlin when he played half a match against Horowhenua-Kapiti in Shannon last weekend.
The young Samoan, who played for Mt Roskill Grammar and Sacred Heart College en route to becoming a member of both the Pacifica United and Auckland University premier sides for the past two years, was in the Auckland Development Squad last season.
Along with 21-year-old Nathan Ramsay (Taradale), Sagote was given game time for Wanganui in last Saturday's non-first-class match in Shannon with the Aucklander given the nod of squad selection approval.
Now it is over to the WRFU management Board to sanction obtaining Sagote as a "loan" player for the 10-week Heartland campaign.
