Kyle Butters was heading back to Wanganui last night with another tennis title to his name.
The up-and-coming 14-year-old has been competing in Ashburton at the Canterbury Junior ITF tournament and last night claimed the doubles crown with partner Andy Lau from Hong Kong.
In the final the duo, seeded two, beat Japan's Kennosuke Nouchi and Loic Perret from New Caledonia 6-2, 6-4.
It was an impressive effort as they were still recovering from their semifinal yesterday when they outlasted Kiwi pairing James Smith and Joshua Walden 15-13 in a gripping third set.
Meanwhile, Turakina's Paige Hourigan, who turns 15 next week, has blazed her way into today's final at Ashburton.
