DOUBLE Australian world championship winning netball coach Jill McIntosh is to join the new Central Region Tasman Trophy netball franchise, an area which includes Wanganui.
The former Australian coach will be the Tasman's director of coaching.
The role will also involve assisting the team coach to develop a coach strategy and team
development plan.
Team franchise spokesman, John Freer, said the decision to contract McIntosh was in line with the board's objective of developing a high-performing competitive team.
"As a result of the agreement we have a high quality master netball coach with international standing." "Her track record speaks for itself one world championship as a player, two world championships and two Commonwealth Games Gold Medals as a coach."
"The role will also oversee the development of the coaching pathway through both the franchise and the partner regions." "This will involve the development of regional coaching pathways if they are not already in place, or the enhancement of existing coaching pathways and programmes," said Freer.
The team has already advertised for a team coach with expressions of interest required to be submitted for consideration by this Saturday.
The team's interim board is also in the process of seeking expressions of interest from potential board members.
Central Region has brought together four netball regions in the development of the new franchise, being Eastern, Western, Wellington and Tasman.
