More than a a dozen jet sprint competitors are preparing to test their high performance boats on the Shelter View track at Upokongaro tomorrow.
The private test and tune day is preparation for the opening round of the New Zealand Jet Sprint Championship series on December 27.
Spokeswoman Julia Murray said about 15 crews will test their machines, with several coming from outside the district as there is little other opportunity to check their boats before competition begins.
The course has been filled with water and a working bee was held last weekend to check the tyres on the sides and make sure everything was clear.
"This is now about the boats," said Murray, who admits a few of the locals are working through break down issues at present.
