Wanganui tennis sensation Paige Hourigan made it a two-time double in her recent ITF events as she again won both the singles and doubles draw at the Auckland ITF Indoor Championships at the weekend.
Having also won both titles at the ITF Waikato-Bays 18-and-under Championships the previous weekend, Hourigan kept her momentum going at Scarbro Tennis Centre, winning the singles final against Kelly Drew 6-4 6-2. Hourigan had a bye in the first round, then won four straight games to make the final, with only Lana Popovich giving her any real problems in their third round match 6-1 7-5.
The teenager then teamed with her beaten singles finalist as she and Drew won through to the final against Sade Atkinson and Claudia Williams, coming back after dropping the first set to win in the tiebreaker 3-6 6-3 [10-5].
Her fellow Wanganui international female player Emma Hayman is currently on tour in the United States where she is having some success.
Hayman teamed with South African Michelle Sammons to be beaten semifinalists in the doubles of the $10,000 Hilton Head Island tournament in South Carolina at the weekend.
