The local lads have been flying the flag for Whanganui at the Jock Hobbs Memorial under-19 national tournament at Taupo's Owen Delany Park for the past week.
Unfortunately their NZ Heartland XV team lost to Northland 18-8 in their second match on Sunday.
Down 5-0 at halftime, Heartland came back but ultimately let in two late tries to decide the issue.
Assistant coach Shane Ratima made a quick trip out of team camp on Saturday to rejoin the Steelform Wanganui team as technical coach for their win over King Country in Te Kuiti.
NZ Heartland XV will finish their tournament with their last game against Southland on Wednesday morning.
