Four Wanganui swimming records tumbled at the weekend as the city hosted the West Coast championships.
With competitors coming from Taranaki and Manawatu, and the full Wanganui swimming squad in action, there were 140 athletes taking part at the Splash Centre over Saturday and Sunday.
As well as a number of personal best performances, four club records were broken.
Shannon Schimanski, 11, set a 50m backstroke record of 36.80s; Laura O'Keeffe, 13, set the 400m freestyle record at 4m 50.21s; Sarah Teki-Clark, 15, knocked off the 50m freestyle mark with 28.68s; and Thomas Ireton, 16, broke the 200m butterfly best when he clocked 2m 20.90s.
O'Keeffe, Teki-Clark and Ireton all competed at the New Zealand short course championships in August.
