Wanganui's last remaining national title hopefuls have a battle on their hands today.
The foursome of skip Clint Park, Ray Park, Ray Savage and Michael Watty need to win their last two matches at the Waverley club in Invercargill ... and then hope other results go their way.
They began their bid for the Bowls NZ club fours crown with a 12-9 win over Onehunga's Chris Le Lievre, Scott Cottrell, Kevin Dixon and Nick Buttar, but then lost 15-11 to Southland's Northend club and 19-11 to Palmerston North.
The good news is that none of the six regional champion fours won all three matches - Northend, Onehunga and Mount Maunganui all have four points from two wins, with Wanganui, Palmerston, and Marlborough's Riverside on two points. The national title is decided on five round-robin matches over two days.
The Wanganui four qualified for the national finals by beating the champions of Taranaki, Wellington and Kapiti Coast.
