BOWLS: Twenty-eight totally blind or partially blind bowlers have been battling it out in the national blind bowls championships in Wanganui.
Two days of singles play finished yesterday and the players move forward into mixed pairs today and tomorrow.
Play is split into three sections:
Totally blind (B1), and two partially blind grades depending on severity (B2 and B3).
The totally blind section was dominated by Canterbury's Tom Perry.
Results of the singles grades yesterday were: B1(mixed): Tom Perry (Canterbury) 1, Marilyn Savage (Auckland) 2.
B2 (mixed): Ron Syme (Auckland) 1, Danny Simon (Hamilton) 2. B 3(women): Heather Smale (Auckland) 1, Phyl Rust (Bay of Plenty) 2.
B3 (men): David Bradding (Waikato) 1, Ray Archbold (Canterbury) 2. ? DAVID OGILVIE.
