Marty McFly won't be in Wanganui this Sunday, nor will "Doc" Brown, but the car they made famous in the comedy movie Back to the Future will be.
The car is a replica of the DeLorean DMC-12 sports car which featured in the film. It is being brought to the city for a private function and the organisers decided the car could also be used as a fundraiser while here.
From 2pm-4pm on Sunday it will be displayed at Wanganui Toyota's showroom in Guyton St. Entry will be by gold coin donation and all the entry money will be going to the City Mission foodbank.
And for a further $10, the car's owner, Hero Car Hire of Auckland, will also let people sit in the car, have their picture taken and receive a unique "time travel" folder for their photo. And $5 from every photo will also be donated to the foodbank.
Hero Car Hire provides unique vehicles for marketing and events, and the DeLorean that carried Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) back in history is one of the most recognised cars to feature in the movies.
