A woman who grew 16 cannabis plants told the court it was to calm her down.
Harmoni Blake pleaded guilty in Wanganui District Court on Tuesday for a charge of cultivating cannabis.
Police prosecutor Drew Morrison told the court at 3.30pm on December 7 police were called to Blake's address on a separate matter.
While at the property they came across four cannabis plants.
Under the Search and Surveillance Act, police conducted a search and discovered a grow room that contained a 500-watt light and a further 12 plants.
The plants were healthy and well cared for, ranging in size from 40cm to 60cm.
She told police she grew the cannabis for personal use to calm herself down.
Defence counsel Harete Hipango told the court her client had a relative who used anti-anxiety medication and said she did not like the effect she observed.
