A woman chose to drive while disqualified to rescue belongings at her former flat, the Whanganui District Court was told on Tuesday.
Victoria Ireland was convicted of disqualified driving on Plymouth Street on January 20 after police made a routine stop.
Her counsel Stephen Ross said Ireland had just moved into a new flat when she was told some of her belongings, still at her old flat, were damaged after a former flatmate's partner flew into a rage.
Ireland had been sleeping on freind's couches for two weeks and had just found a new place to live when she received the call, Mr Ross said.
She was told the partner had destroyed several items in her former flat, including some of her belongings. Ireland borrowed her mother's car to drive to the former flat to recover them.
