Swimming is back on the menu at Whanganui’s Kai Iwi Beach after being off limits because of high levels of enterococci bacteria.
A re-sample from Horizons Regional Council gave the all clear on Sunday afternoon.
Swimming had been prohibited since Thursday.
Last week, Horizons environmental monitoring scientist Ian Hurst said the re-sample would confirm whether there was an ongoing issue at the beach.
“If the next one comes back and it’s good to swim, we can put it down to being most likely weather related,” he said.
