Imported all-rounder Akash Gill will play for CD against Afghanistan U19 in Napier today and has also been named vice-captain of the Canadian U19 team ahead of its World Cup bid.

Candian import Akash Gill has been named in a Central Districts selection X1 to play the Afghanistan under-19 team at Nelson Park in Napier on Saturday.

Gill was named in the side in recognition of his hard work and performances in the Hawke Cup and with Central Districts age group teams last season.

Dilan Raj from Cricket Whanganui said the match was scheduled as a warm-up fixture as Afghanistan prepares for its world cup bid in January.

Gill has also just been named vice-captain of the Candian U19 team ahead of its world cup bid.

The CD team is:
James Field, Bayley Wiggins, Brad Schumilian, Mitch Renwick (C), Matt Edmondson (wk), Kurtis Weeks, Angus Schaw, Akash Gill, Todd Watson, Dane Watson, Ben Stoyanoff, Joey Field.
