Whanganui weather: What to expect this weekend

Whanganui can expect “pretty pleasant conditions” this weekend according to MetService meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane.

On Saturday a high of 25C with “nice sunshine” and a slight wind can be expected.

“It’s looking like a light on-shore westerly, just a very typical summer type of wind,” Makgabutlane said.

Sunday will be slightly warmer with a high of 26C and “a good mix of sunshine and some partly cloudy conditions”.

Into the evening there may be some light showers along the coast but nothing severe.

Monday morning is expected to have increased cloud cover with possible showers into the day, sticking with Sunday’s high of 26C.

The overnight lows through the weekend will remain at 15C.

Despite a thunderstorm watch over much of the central North Island, Whanganui is not expected to be affected but areas inland such as Ruapehu, Taranaki and Rangitikei may experience some heavier showers.
