Whanganui’s weekend outdoor events should go ahead without a hitch as stable weather and warm temperatures are expected.

Big events planned for the weekend include Saturday’s Taste Whanganui Festival and Whanganui River Markets, and Sunday’s Whanganui Christmas Market at the Racecourse.

“We could see some partly cloudy conditions around but no significant rainfall expected on Saturday,” MetService meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane said.

An onshore, westerly wind was forecast for Saturday but Makgabutlane said it was “not looking too bad”.

Saturday’s high is expected to be 25C.

Makgabutlane said there was “quite a settled weekend ahead” with the same conditions expected for Sunday - partly cloudy, no rain and a light westerly wind.

A high of 24C is forecast for Sunday with Monday likely to be the same.

The overnight lows were “not too far from average for this time of year”, Makgabutlane said, with a consistent 15C expected through the weekend.

Temperatures were where the similarities ended on Monday, with southerly winds and showers expected.
