Suspicious house fire
A house fire in Raetihi about 1.30am on Saturday is being treated as suspicious, said Raetihi Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mike Maru. Two fire appliances from Raetihi and one from Ōhakune went to the house on State Highway 4 near Pitt St and police also attended. The occupants of the house were all safely out when firefighters arrived, Maru said. The fire was at the back of the house, in the laundry/amenities area, which was badly damaged. Fire risk management officer John Hotter was at the property to investigate yesterday.
Injured woman found

Firefighters helped ambulance staff and the woman was taken to hospital. They also cleared the house of smoke, Station Officer Jes Sorensen said.
