Whanganui man Joshua Tetua will spend one month in prison and pay reparation costs of $417 after pleading guilty to theft at the Whanganui District Court.

Tetua stole blankets from a motel.

His lawyer Roger Crowley said that the theft was "unremarkable".

"The value is low, it's just some blankets from a motel," he said.

Theft was not the only charge Tetua faced.
