The WHS boys basketball team claimed the WCS scalp 55-45 during their annual sports exchange last week.

Whanganui High School athletes tuned up for Tournament Week when hosting Wanganui Collegiate in their annual sports exchange last Wednesday.

The games were the school's final sports exchange before heading away to the winter tournament week next week throughout the North Island.

Director of sport Lisa Murphy said all teams have been preparing well leading into their final week of the season.

"We had a few teams in semis and finals of their competition this year with the 1st XI boys hockey winning the Manawatu Secondary School Division 1 competition for another year and the girls coming runners up," Murphy said.

"Our 1st XV rugby team was in the final of the Manawatu Premier 2 competition, just missing out on the trophy in a close fought game against Palmerston North Boys High 3rd XV."
