Back rower Ritchie Graham had an outstanding match, putting in more minutes than usual, while Rewiti himself had to make an early comeback from his ruptured ACL after the last-minute pull out of a squad member before the two hour car trip north.
"Had to strap the knee up. Did the full 80," he said.
Boxon extended their record to 6-1-2, which guarantees they will finish in the Top 2 and get a home semifinal on June 23.
"We'll stay on top of the table not matter what, I think," Reweti said.
"It's about getting our prep for finals footy."
Reweti acknowledges it is strange to have a six team competition where all six teams will make the playoffs, as the bottom four will face off in the June 16 quarterfinals.
The other team who will likely earn the weekend break is the Western Suburbs Tigers, who still have a game in hand against the Hawera Hawks.
Although beaten 22-6 on Friday night by the Bell Block-Marist Dragons, the Hawks ended up stopping the Linton Cobras late season run in controversial fashion the previous round.
Cobras had won the match at the Army Camp 48-24, but were stripped of the victory after Reweti said it was revealed they tried to "sneak" an illegible player into their lineup.
The result was overturned and Hawera was given a 20-0 win, the same as the Boxon when the Dragons had to default their game that weekend.
The Boxon will take a break this weekend as the TRL is holding their Town vs Country representative trial on Friday night, while the Tigers and Hawks players from those lineups will have to back up on Sunday when they play their postponed match from the first round.
After that, the Boxon will host the Tigers in Whanganui for their last regular season game.
"It favours us, in a way, giving us a rest," said Reweti.
He acknowledged his team just has to roll with the circumstances with other team's doubling up games, defaulting, and being stripped of points.
"We just keep trucking on, training and playing."
