Wanganui will have a strong presence in the New Zealand Male Choir when it tours Canada this month.
Six of the 35-strong choir are from Wanganui with a seventh from Taihape. The Wanganui Male Choir's musical director, Judy Barrett, is also touring as an accompanist for the national choir.
The party fly to Vancouver tomorrow for the three-week tour of locations between Calgary and Vancouver Island.
Dennis Brown, who has been a member of the Wanganui Male Choir for 40 years and the New Zealand version for two, said it was a big contingent to come from one city.
"We've had these sort of numbers for a period of years," he said. "It's right up there. I think it's the largest representation from one choir in the New Zealand Male Choir."
