The former Wanganui RSA building on St Hill St has been sold to Whanganui businessman Mike Paul.
The building was on the market following the merger of the RSA and Wanganui Cosmopolitan Club earlier this year.
Marketed as having all of the services required for sustaining a licensed hospitality operation, that's exactly what it will be with an application for a liquor licence lodged for the building under the name Barracks Sports Bar Ltd to operate a tavern/nightclub out of the building.
Paul said the building would get a bit of a costmetic makeover but it was otherwise fit for purpose.
"I just saw and opportunity and thought we'll give it a go and see what happens," he said. "At the end of the day we'll make it work."
