Wanganui property values continue to slide as the average price hits $180,000, new figures reveal.
Wanganui house prices dropped 5.4 per cent in the 12 months to June to $180,041, almost 20 per cent below the 2007 market peak.
The slipping values go against an inflating national trend, with national values increasing 8 per cent in the year to June to $476,346 - up 15 per cent on the 2007 peak.
According to the latest Real Estate Institute of New Zealand data, the median Wanganui house price in May this year was $120,000.
Philip Kubiak, of Property Brokers in Wanganui, said a 5.4 per cent drop was "in synch" with what he'd seen over the last year.
