Earthquake resilience standards have meant Vodafone has been without permanent premises in Whanganui for months but the telco has now moved into a new store.
In December 2017 Vodafone and Spark both moved out of their Victoria Ave premises, citing earthquake safety concerns. Vodafone has since operated from a kiosk and then a temporary store in Trafalgar Square.
Vodafone's regional manager Anthonie de Heer said the business reopened in new premises at 74 Victoria Ave yesterday. "It's absolutely fantastic to be in the new store," de Heer said.
"We're proud of the location, which puts us on the high street again. This building exceeds the earthquake standards and we feel this is the right place to host customers."
The official opening of the store will be on Saturdayand de Heer said everyone was welcome to visit and take up some special offers on the day.
