There was a marked increase in out-of-town visitors at this year's Vintage Weekend but fewer locals, according to one of the organisers.
Elise Goodge, from Mainstreet Whanganui, said while final numbers hadn't been collated, it was likely Vintage Weekend attracted "slightly more" visitors than last year.
"What we noticed was that there were a lot of people who came to Wanganui just for Vintage Weekend," Ms Goodge said.
There were a lot of visitors from Palmerston North and Wellington, as well as Auckland, Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa - and even overseas.
She said Soapbox Derby was an especially popular event, with an increase in both registrations and attendance, as well as the Caboodle street festival and the vintage car displays.
