The venue for the mandate hui in Wanganui being organised by the Uenuku Charitable Trust to advise Tamakana, Tamahaki and Uenuku uri (descendants) has changed.

Due to floods at Putiki Marae, the trust will now hold the hui tomorrow at the Kingsgate Hotel in Victoria Ave at 6pm. And with the Raetihi-Pipiriki Rd having restricted access, the trust will try to get a mandate roadshow speaker to Paraweka Marae, Pipiriki on Saturday at 3pm.

The trust has run hui from Gore to Auckland to provide information on its quest to represent Tamakana, Tamahaki and Uenuku in negotiations with the Crown for the comprehensive settlement of historical Treaty of Waitangi claims by the central Whanganui Large Natural Group (LNG).

The Whanganui region is divided into Ngati Rangi, southern Whanganui, northern Whanganui, and central Whanganui for the claims.
