Blair Mattock sits on his Honda CD650 next to Kevin Mulqueen, who owns a 1985 Ford Falcon. Both men were part of a convoy of half a dozen old Ministry of Transport traffic patrol vehicles heading from Hamilton to Wellington.
All the cars are owned by former traffic officers.
Organiser Keith Gulliver said a display of the vehicles on Saturday at the War Memorial Hall forecourt was "pretty good". About 30 people came to look at them before they continued their trip to Wellington.
Ministry of Transport traffic officers and their black-and-white patrol cars disappeared from New Zealand roads in 1992, when the service was merged with police.
