The Waverley Hall is basically sound, says a spokeswoman for a trust set up to preserve it. And, she says they have the documents to prove it.
Waverley Town Hall Trust secretary Maggie Lister says the group was set up in 2007 to try to save the building from sale or demolition. They wanted it retained for the community by the South Taranaki District Council.
But the hall is up for sale and the man acting for the absentee owner, Dean Butler, says there has been a lot of interest in the building.
Mrs Lister said an engineering report and full architectural report were arranged by the trust at no small cost, which was paid for through local fundraising activities, charitable trust advances and community donations.
Mrs Lister has the original copies of those reports.
