Clubs who nominate members for the annual Ray White Wanganui Sports Awards are guaranteed the warm glow of doing something worthwhile and a good night out with 7 Days comedian Ben Hurley.
Nominations are open for the annual sports awards which will be dished out on November 21. Names need to be in by October 10 and forms are available on the Sport Wanganui website.
Nominations can come from the Wanganui, Rangitikei and Ruapehu regions. Organisers of the awards say it's a good opportunity to recognise a club's athletes and players, thank volunteers and helpers for the work they do and promote the strength of a sport in the region.
Nominations are also essential to supporting the annual event, said Gemma Bartley of Sport Wanganui.
There are two new categories this year, the Rivercity Gas Disabled Sportsperson Recognition which will be won by an individual who has excelled either on his or her own or in a team, and the Sport Wanganui Services to Sport Recognition award for a volunteer such as a committee member, administrator, umpire, coach or manager.
