Children and adults from six intermediate schools observe the two minute's silence for Christchurch at the Wanganui Tennis Courts today.
It had a very sombre conclusion, but the Super Sports tennis tournament at the Wanganui Tennis Club courts had been an exciting affair for the over 30 intermediate school children taking part this afternoon.
Players from six intermediate schools in the lower central region attended the tournament with five rounds
of matches in boys and girls singles, doubles, and then mixed doubles.
Each school could enter up to eight players, with their cumulative points from all their games adding up to the best schools.
Whanganui's Rutherford Junior High School were the hosts.
The tournament was deliberately timed to finish at 1.25pm, allowing time for scorecards to be collected, before the schoolchildren and adults all stood to hear the live broadcast from Christchurch of the Islamic call to prayer, and then the two minute's silence, to remember the victims of the mosque shootings.
