The Wanganui Floral Art Society displayed their nursery rhyme and children's story-themed works at Virginia Lake yesterday with some inventive works inspired by favourite stories.
Anne Flutey had recreated Mr McGregor's garden from the Beatrix Potter classic Peter Rabbit, complete with real carrots and cabbages, a scarecrow and minimalist Mr McGregor running to evict the wily rabbit.
There was a display of the game Twister and another depicting Snakes and Ladders, while a quintet of hydrangea-covered teddy bears enjoyed a picnic of fruit and honey on the lawn.
The displays were put up in time for the long weekend and some were designed to be interactive.
