While Jim and Joy Stantiall were cleaning up from a smash-and-grab raid on their Marton jewellery store the customers kept coming in.
So while it was thought last week's robbery at Marrs Jewellers would have spelled the end of the store, the couple have decided to stay open for three or four days a week to serve the obvious demand in the town.
While a large portion of the stock was lifted in the raid, Marrs will be open for repairs, engraving and re-threading.
There are still some items such as china for sale.
Owner Joy Stantiall, who has worked in the store for 55 years, said she and her husband Jim didn't intend to replace any of the stolen stock but would remain open in the short term.
