Stepping down to step up

Racing wise it's a return to normality for Friday's Hatrick meeting following last week's massive night of big ticket racing.

The main 520m event carded is for greyhounds who are one win away from open class status (C4).

The field does include chasers who has been downgraded from the open class chasing ranks, owing to the three miss, drop back system the greyhound code operates.

This includes last Friday's Group 1 $45,420 Spion Rose Cup fourth place finisher Bigtime Paddy, who holds solid looking claims of bouncing back up to the elite level in this event (Race 10) for his conditioner Lisa Cole.

His drop back in class occurred owing to him not placing in his three race Melbourne campaign, which included his gallant 515m fourth placing in his Melbourne Cup heat.

Bigtime Paddy has drawn ideally in trap two and clocking another sub 30-second 520m time will be sufficient to see him prevailing in this race.

His kennelmates Bigtime Phantom (trap 1) and Bigtime Jason (trap 8) bookend the field.
Both chasers can feature from their respective draws, especially Jason who would have benefited from his bold fresh up 520m third last Friday.

Bigtime Flyer had been downgraded back to C3 when he won last Friday's version of this 520m race.

A repeat of his 30.19s time can see him featuring.

Quistis Bale from the Matt Roberts kennels can spilt up the Cole trained runners on the post race podium.

She was bold when finishing three quarters of a length behind Bigtime Flyer last Friday and a similar effort here can see contesting the finish.

Hypocritical won last week's $15,825 Dash For Cash 305m final at Group 2 level for Roberts.

He returns this evening to contest the open class 305m sprint (Race 5).

Hypocritical has drawn nicely in the two trap for this dash which presents him with sound looking repeat claims.

The Cole-prepared Bigtime Stu was the Dash for Cash runner up after he quickly exited from trap six.

He's jumping from the same trap this evening.

Scooter's Rose was bold when finishing second in a support C5 305m sprint last Friday for her trainer Marcie Flipp.

She enjoys jumping from the wider traps and she can swoop from the seven trap this evening.
