St George's School is celebrating its official new campus opening and 90th anniversary with a time capsule.
Yesterday one student from each classroom presented a story with a prediction on the future in 35 years time.
Year eight student Ethan Ellwood presented the school records for athletics, swimming and cross-country.
"We wonder whether any of those records might still stand in 35 years' time," Ethan said.
Year six student Flynn Gilberston-Small represented his classroom with a school photo.
"The items we are putting in the time capsule are our thoughts about what we think the news headlines might be in 2052," Flynn said.
Following the presentations there was the cutting of the cake by the oldest former student who attended the event with a year two student.
St George's School Headmaster Andrew Osmond said it was great to see the sun come out and share a true reflection of what's on offer at the school.
"It's great to welcome past students back and celebrate 90 years with the current students," Mr Osmond said.
Year eight student Carlos Wilson was excited to see what the future entails.
"It's going to be amazing, I hope I can come back to be there an open it," Carlos said.
Former chairmen of the board, Richard Redmayne, was a key figure in the opening of the new campus said it was an excited day after a journey.
"My father attended the school from 1944-1948, I was here 1977-1980 - both full boarders and my children, Ruby and Sophie have recently gone through St George's,"
"As a farming family from Turakina we are thrilled St George's is still so vibrant and looking good for the future," Mr Redmayne said.
'Guys like Doc McDonald only come around once in a generation.'
