Police are hunting a gunman who attacked and robbed a man at a Wanganui house.
It is believed Nathan Anderson used a sawn-off shotgun and threatened to kill his victim, a man in his 50s.
"We believe Anderson has gone to the sole-occupied property with a firearm and confronted the victim. He asked the victim for money and has repeatedly threatened to kill him," Detective Andrew Buchanan said yesterday.
"He then struck the man on the side of the head with what has been described as a sawn-off shotgun."
The alleged incident took place between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Sunday at a Liffiton St address.
Police said that after striking his victim, Anderson, of Palmerston North, spent about 20 minutes searching for items of value. During that time the victim, who had been knocked to the ground, had managed to call the police. Cash and other items were taken.
Anderson had left the property through the backyard, jumping over neighbouring fences to a silver sedan parked at or near to the intersection of Carlton Ave and Koromiko Rd, they said.
At the time of the incident Anderson, 32, was wearing a grey and black-coloured hoody with the hood pulled over his head, dark track pants, and black and white sneakers. He was described as having black hair, brown eyes, of medium build, about 1.8m tall with a heavily tattooed left upper arm.
"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously or a vehicle parked at the intersection of Carlton Ave and Koromiko Rd between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on the evening of November 10," Mr Buchanan aid.
Anderson was known to associate with Tipene Tiari, 37, who police were also keen to locate for outstanding arrest warrants.
Tiari was described as having short black hair and brown eyes, of medium to solid build and just over 1.8m tall.
"The public plays a vital role in helping police keep communities safe and we want to speak to anyone that has any information regarding the aggravated robbery," Mr Buchanan said.
"Anderson and Tiari are both dangerous and should not be approached. If anyone knows their whereabouts they should call 111 immediately."
