Rene Scotwien broke his arm on the first day of a motocross event in Taupo last year so the Dane has returned for another crack at New Zealand competition.
Travelling from Denmark, Rene was competing at an event in the South Island last month when he heard about the Masters Games in Wanganui on the event website.
So he entered and this week has immersed himself in Games life. Along with motocross events at Mission Rd in Westmere over the weekend, he has competed in football and mountain biking throughout the week. "It was because I broke my wrist (last year), I just decided to do it all over again," he said. "It's been very good."
He liked riding in New Zealand and hoped to stay until May to compete in more events. "You've got a lot more rides here and a lot more space."
Rene managed to pick up silver on Saturday in the 50-plus cross-country event.
