SPLOOOOK! Boys and girls will be... wet and muddy ? especially when they are scouts at the national jamboree and the only way out of the hobbit challenge is down the slide and into the bog hole.
Demonstrating his obvious talent for that sort of activity yesterday was Anthony Kerr from Wanganui's jamboree contingent.
The challenge was just one of several on-site activities to challenge the more than 4700 scouts and scout leaders participating in the 17th New Zealand Jamboree, based at Manfield Park, Feilding.
But each day about half of the youngsters are transported off-site to events and activities around the region.
The jamboree, which opened on December 30 and runs until tomorrow, has New Zealand contingents from North Cape to Bluff, but also has a strong international flavour with around 300 scouts from the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, South East Asia, Australia and several Pacific Island nations.
