Police are continuing to investigate an alleged "minor physical assault" on a schoolgirl at a popular Whanganui park.
The Bason Botanic Gardens on Rapanui Road were closed around 2pm on Tuesday after police were called to an alleged assault inside the park.
A police spokesperson said yesterday they were told a student, from outside of Whanganui, was at the gardens and was approached by a male she did not know. A van-load of students from a Manawatu school was observed at the park.
"It was also reported that a minor physical assault had taken place," a police spokesperson said.
The girl ran off and raised the alarm.
