The Schola Sacra Choir accompanied by well-known organist and choir director Alison Stewart presents With Cheerful Voice at Christ Church in Wicksteed St on Saturday.
The first half of the concert features settings of psalms and a lively bracket from the Youth Chorus.
The Youth Chorus will lift off with Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines with their bracket rounded off with Kneels at the Feet of his Friends.
After a successful Christmas concert last year where the audience enjoyed the opportunity to sing as well, this concert will again feature audience participation in the opening and closing items in the first half of the concert.
Psalm settings include We Pray for Thy Loving Kindness written for the marriage of Queen Elizabeth to Prince Phillip in 1947 and Howard Goodall's setting of the 23rd Psalm The Lord is my Shepherd which features as the theme music for the BBC series The Vicar of Dibley.
Schubert's lyrical Mass in G will take the stage as the second half of the concert and feature Alison Stewart on organ with Schola Sacra soloists soprano Rachel Smith and baritone Lex Moodie along with Palmerston North tenor Nigel Tongs.
